Your tour will start with the visit of Dambulla Cave Temple, consisting of a complex of Buddhist statues hosted in caves, including a 14 meter long, colossal figure of the recumbent Buddha. Its rock ceiling is one large sweep of colorful frescoes, some of which dates back to over 2,000 years, which depicts Buddhist mythology and the tales of the Buddha's previous births.

After breakfast, before the sun gets too hot, you will climb Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most dramatic, inspiring and beautiful historical locations in the world. Sigiriya was built in 5th century as a fortress-palace. Worthy of being called the “8th wonder of the world”, this place will astonish anyone with its outstandingly beautiful views, staggering engineering and peerless design, surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures.
After Sigiriya, we will visit a local village, which you will reach by an ox-cart and a small catamaran. In this village you will assist to a cooking demonstration and witness the day to day life of local people.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a safari in Minneriya National Park, famous for the high number of elephants.

After breakfast we will drive to Polonnaruwa, where you will visit the ruins of former Sri Lanka’s capital until the late 13th century. The most impressive ruins are the ancient sculptures of Lord Buddha at the Gal Viahara cut into granite stone dating back to the middle of the 12th century.
