Day 1

Meet & Greet at Bandaranaike International Airport

At your arrival you will be welcomed by our representative at the arrival hall. We will then drive you to Bentota.

Day 2

Visit Galle Fort and the holy city of Kataragama

Your journey will take you to Tissamaharama, near Yala National Park.

On the way there we will pay a visit to Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, originally built by the Portuguese in the 17th century and then further developed by the Dutch and the British. Buildings of interest include the Dutch Reformed Church, All Saints Church, the lighthouse and bell tower. A maze of narrow roads lined with small houses, art galleries and shops with Dutch are characteristic of the fort.

Moreover we will stop for a visit in Devinuwara devalay, a shrine dedicated to the God Vishnu who is said to be the guardian god of Buddhism. According to the legend, god Upulvan transfigured himself as a kihiri log and floated into the sea beach of the Devinuwara kingdom.

Late afternoon you will visit Kataragama, a town with a great religious and historical significance, which brings together Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims and Christians each day to worship at its numerous temples of all faiths located within the sacred city. Each day, at specific times the Hindu shrines come alive when poojas (devotions) are presented to the Gods: baskets filled with fruit and flowers, burning incense and oil lamps, dashing of coconuts, clanging of bells, and the continuous chanting, truly a mesmerising experience.

Day 3

Safari in Yala National Park and transfer to Nuwara-Eliya

Early in the morning, you will enjoy a safari in Yala National Park, the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka and famous for the highest concentration of leopards in Asia. The male leopards in Yala are very confident and are often seen walking the tracks during the day. Young males in particular seem to have no fear of the jeep, which can lead to some excellent photographic opportunities. Lagoons fringe this part of the coastline, each lined with mangroves and filled with brackish water.

Once you will be done with the safari, we will start our journey direction Nuwara-Eliya, the picturesque "Little England". On the route we will stop at Ravana waterfalls, which has its roots connected to the famous Indian epic, the Ramayana.

Moreover you will visit the ancient Buddhist Temple of Buduruwagale.

Day 4

Trekking in Horton Plain and stroll through tea plantations

Early morning (05:00) you will start the trekking on Horton Plains, a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka where you will experience a trekking taking you to World's End, a sheer cliff with a drop of about 4,000 feet, and Baker's Falls.

On the way to Kandy we will stop at Ramboda Waterfalls and at a tea plantation, enjoying a cup of tea in the tea factory after a live demonstration of the process of tea production, from the tea leaf to the final product.

Day 5

Kandy

Today you will visit the city of Kandy. Among the "must-see" of Kandy you cannot miss the “Dalanda Maligawa”, the Temple of the Tooth. This important temple hosts the sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha, brought to Sri Lanka in 4th Century A.D. Kandy’s Dalada Maligawa is a magnificent shrine, with decorative walls, golden roof and fine woodwork and its 16th to 19th century ambience still vividly alive.

Moreover, we will admire the city from the Kandy View Point and visit a typical local market.

After lunch, you will enjoy a visit of the Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya, renowned for its collection of a variety of orchids. It includes more than 4000 species of plants, including of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees.

Late afternoon, you will enjoy a folkloric dance show performed by the famous Kandian dancers.

Day 6

Visit Alu Viharaya Rock Temple and Dambulla Caves

 ( Transfer time : Approx. 3 hrs)

After breakfast we will head towards Habarana.

Enroute you will visit the Alu Viharaya Rock Temple. This temple, surrounded by hills, has a great historic importance traced by to the 3rd Century B.C. At present, there are 13 rock caves.

Not to be missed is also the famous Dambulla Cave Temple, which consists of a complex of Buddhist image houses. Its rock ceiling is one large sweep of colorful frescoes, some of which dates back to over 2,000 years, which depicts Buddhist mythology, and the tales of the Buddha's previous births. This cave temple has the largest number of Buddha statues all housed in one place, including a 14 meter long, colossal figure of the recumbent Buddha.

Before reaching Kandy we will visit a Spice Garden to learn about roots and plants which are the base for Ayurveda medicine.

Day 7

Visit the ruins of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's ancient capital

 ( Transfer time : Approx. 2 hrs | 2 hrs)

Today we will be visiting the ancient city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first capital located within the Cutlural Triangle and today the most important religious and cultural site in Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura is famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Srilankan civilization, such as the ruins of Isurumuniya, Ruwanweli Maha Saya and several pagodas of the old capital.

Moreover you will have the chance to visit the Sri Maha Bodhi tree which was originally a branch of the Bo tree in Budda Gaya under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment and brought to Sri Lanka by Emperor Asoka’s daughter, Princess Sangamiita.

Day 8

Visit the ruins of Polonnaruwa and adventure in a safari in Minneriya National Park

 ( Transfer time : Approx. 2 hrs | 1.5 hrs | 30 min)

The morning will visit the ruins of Polonnaruwa. This city remained Sri Lanka’s capital until the late 13th century. The most impressive ruins are the ancient sculptures of Lord Buddha at the Gal Viahara cut into granite stone dating back to the middle of the 12th century.

In the afternoon you will be enjoying a safari in Minneriya National Park. Being part of the elephant corridor which joins up with Kaudulla and Wasgomuwa parks, this National Park gives you the opportunity to see herds of Elephants throughout the year.

Day 9

Climb the majestic rock fortress of Sigiriya and transfer to Trincomalee

 ( Transfer time : Approx. 2.5 hrs)

Early in the morning, before the temperature gets too hot, you will climb the rock fortress of Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most dramatic, inspiring and beautiful historical locations in the world. it was built in 5th century as a fortress-palace. Worthy of being called the “8th wonder of the world” will astonish anyone with its outstandingly beautiful views, staggering engineering and peerless design, surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures. It is also known for its ancient paintings (frescos).

On your way back we will start the transfer to Trincomalee.
