Upon your arrival at the international airport of Colombo, you will be welcomed by our representative, who will accompany you to Habarana.
On the way, we will stop at Anuradhapura, the capital of Sri Lanka from the 5th century BC until the end of the 10th century AD, and today one of the many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city’s greatest treasures include the Samadhi Buddha Statue, the ruins of Isurumuniya, Ruwanwelisaya, and several pagodas of the ancient capital—sacred sites built of bricks and characterized by their semi-spherical shape.
The most famous relic to see in Anuradhapura is the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi (Bo Tree). Legend has it that this holy tree grew from a cutting of the tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment, and it is considered the oldest living tree on Earth.

Early in the morning, before the sun gets too hot, visit Sigiriya, also known as the Lion Rock due to the presence of a huge stone statue of a lion at its entrance. Sigiriya is one of the island’s most spectacular wonders, rising to a height of 150 meters. At the top, you can see the foundations and remains of what was once a magnificent palace and its gardens. During the climb, in a small recess in the rock, you will admire ancient frescoes that, thanks to restoration work, still retain their original beauty.
In the afternoon, visit Polonnaruwa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and the capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to the 13th century. Polonnaruwa is home to several remarkable statues and temples, including Lankatilaka Temple, Thuparamaya, Tivanka Image House, and Gal Vihara.

In the morning, we will visit the Dambulla Cave Temple. This temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, includes 80 caves, 5 of which contain statues and paintings depicting Buddha and his life. The ceiling of the largest cave is entirely decorated with paintings that follow the natural surface of the rock so perfectly that it appears to be covered with fabric.
After this visit, the journey to Kandy will begin. This town, set in a hilly area, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It holds special significance and is considered the most sacred place for Buddhists thanks to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (“Dalada Maligawa”), which houses the sacred relic of Buddha’s tooth—a temple you will visit upon arrival in Kandy.
In the evening, you will attend a performance of traditional Sinhalese dances.

Today we will return to Colombo. Before leaving Kandy, we will visit the Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya, which today cover 59 hectares and include more than 5,000 species of trees, plants, and climbers—some rare, others endemic—along with a rich variety of tropical flora.
On the way to Colombo, just outside Kandy, we will visit the Gadaladeniya Temple, built in Dravidian style, combining Sri Lankan architecture from the Polonnaruwa period with Indo-Chinese influences.
